Inspiring Ethnic Harmony through Gratitude
Watawala
For the past three years, Watawala Tea has organised a variety of events in conjunction with the Mihintale Temple during the Poson Poya period. From providing Watawala tea, free of charge, to the devotees, to supporting senior citizens and other individuals who find the climb challenging, Watawala Tea has conducted many programmes. It has also provided sponsored Mihintale Temple development projects.
In 2019, with racial tension within the country aggravated to new heights by the Easter Sunday bombings in April, Watawala Tea focused its work with the Mihintale Temple during Poson on driving the concept of ‘one nation’. A seth kavi prayer was also conducted to pray for unity among the communities and the betterment of the nation. All devotees participated in the prayer which began at the auspicious time of 6.37pm on Poson Poya day at the temple. All citizens of the country were also encouraged to join in.
